Oh hello blog! Long time no see. It’s literally been forever since my last post. Almost a month? So what’s been going on… Let’s talk about Hong Kong.
The passion and determination that the students in this city display each day is something thousands all over the world admire them for. It takes a lot for these young individuals to speak out and fight for what they deserve in this city they call home. What am I talking about you may ask?
Occupy Central is known as a civil disobedience movement which began on September 28, 2014. Prior to this, the Hong Kong Federation of Students held a class boycott in which I myself was affected being a university student here. Classes were cancelled, low attendance was noticed, students were speaking out through their civil disobedience. Almost a month into the movement, three major districts in Hong Kong have been blocked by protestors: Admiralty, Mong Kok and Causeway Bay.
No tear gas, no pepper spray, no rain, no heat… Nothing will stop these citizens from fighting for what they believe in and I admire this city for its determination, its unity and its strength in these trying times.
Occupy Central is about to hit its one month mark in five days and Hong Kong is still going strong. Don’t back down Hong Kong, stay strong.
