Dakak Park and Beach Resort | Dapitan City, Dipolog

During our trip to Dipolog, we stayed at Dakak Park and Beach Resort. It’s still located in Dapitan City but a 45-minute drive away from the the city center. Known for being a five-star resort, I’m not too sure I’d say it lives up to its reputation but still a great choice for accommodation in Dapitan.

As we were a large group, we opted for a Family Room which could fit about 20 people. It had two king sized beds and four king sized bunk beds. Two showers and two toilets as well. So ideal for large groups! The room was very clean upon arrival, minimalistic in layout so there was really a lot of space to “breathe” despite being such a large group. Accommodation size was just perfect for us.

Now the resort itself is quite big so you’d need a van to go from place to place. It does however, run 24 hours so you don’t have to worry about being stuck in your room once it hit a certain time.

Now the beach was not what I had expected. Let’s just say….there are far better beaches out there in the Philippines. Funny as I saw reviews that this is the go-to place for white sand and clear water. Perhaps it was the weather as we were there in the later part of the summer, towards the end of June. It was pretty cloudy for most of the trip but luckily we weren’t really affected by heavy rain. The beach was well-maintained and clean, just not the typical clear, blue waters you’d expect from a beach in the Philippines. We didn’t even go swimming.

The staff at Dakak Park and Beach Resort was commendable. From housekeeping services, to those at the front desk and to the restaurants. Shoutout to the staff at the Pirates Disco Bar who kept the bar open till past opening hours for us! Dakak also has a rule against bringing in outside food into the resort. Perhaps to maintain the cleanliness and prevent bugs from entering the rooms. So that left us with the Park’s dining options. Quite a variety I guess. On the top of my head I remember there being a seafood place overlooking the beach (quite disappointing), buffet in front of the beach (not bad), Italian and Chinese options (unfortunately didn’t get too try). It is a little further away to dine outside of the Park so be prepared to choose the best dining options in the Park that best fit your taste palate.

Overall, I was pleased with Dakak Park and Beach Resort in terms of their accommodation. As in, their rooms. Perhaps the beach is a lot better in the summer and if that’s the case, I guess it would’ve been great as it is exclusive to guests only so it wasn’t crowded at all. Very fitting for kids as you get both the beach and the pools. If you’re a big group, I’d say definitely choose Dakak Park and Beach Resort as it really does accommodate everyone comfortably.
